Policies and Reservation Information - Please Read Before Booking
Payments may be made only with Visa, MasterCard, or Discover. All trips will be confirmed with a $1000 deposit at the time of the reservation with no exceptions. The remaining balance is due in full prior to the time of your charter. If you cancel your reservation, that cancellation must be received in writing no later than 30 days prior to your scheduled charter in order to receive a full refund of your deposit less a 10% processing fee. Upon receipt of your reservation and deposit, we will send you a written confirmation and additional information for planning your trip.
At the time of your charter, failure to pay your reservation in full, failure to show up or non-participation in the reserved charter are conditions which are considered a cancellation by you, the client, and will receive no refund.
Alaska Seabird Charters reserves the right to make changes to a cruise at any time to ensure the safety of the passengers, crew, and vessel. This may include changes to a scheduled route and preferred birding locations. Notwithstanding safety concerns, we will make our sincerest efforts to meet the needs of our clients and provide the best charter vessel and shore excursion experiences possible. Although safety is our number one priority, there are inherent risks with vessel and shore-based activities in the Alaskan wilderness. We cannot assume responsibility for injury to clients or damage to personal property during these activities.
Our cruises take place rain or shine and are rarely canceled but we do reserve the right to cancel a trip for any reason including, but not limited to, extreme weather conditions and mechanical failures. If a trip is canceled by us for these reasons, you will receive a full refund of any payments made. If a trip is abbreviated due to weather conditions or mechanical failure, the cost of the trip will be prorated and the proportional amount will be refunded. Alaska Seabird Charters will not be held responsible for any expenses incurred by you in preparation for the booked charter such as any other travel related expenses. We recommend that you allow sufficient time before and after your scheduled charter dates to account for potential delays. Otherwise, purchasing travel insurance is a good idea.
Naturally, the longer the trip, the greater number of species you are likely to see. Offshore trips to the edge of the continental shelf provide the best chance to see fulmars, shearwaters, and albatross. However, these trips will only be made under the best weather conditions. If this is your primary interest, we suggest booking a longer trip for the best chance of getting a good weather day for the offshore voyage. Most other species can be observed during a typical 2- or 3-day trip.
We will ask you to fill out a form prior to departure to let us know of your birding interests, food preferences, allergies, etc. This will help us to plan your trip to best meet your needs. Costs shown here are for trips aboard M/V Dora only. Cost for day trips aboard M/V Missing Lynx are explained on the "Trip Options" page. Trips depart at approximately 8:00 AM and return at about 5:00 PM. The table to the right can be used to determine your charge. These costs include all local city and borough taxes.
Your purchase includes exclusive use of the charter vessel, shore excursions, all food, non-alcoholic beverages, and fuel costs. Hearty & healthy meals and snacks are tailored to your preferences. No additional fees or surcharges.
In addition, all guests aboard Alaska Seabird Charters will receive a voucher for free admission to the Alaska SeaLife Center located on the waterfront in Seward, Alaska!

To book a charter, follow these steps:
1. Check the calendar below to be sure your preferred dates are available.
2. If your dates are open, then click here to reserve your charter for the desired duration and guest numbers, add to cart, go to cart, and follow checkout instructions.
3. You will be required to submit a deposit for your reservation and will receive confirmation of that deposit by auto-reply. A confirmation of your reservation will be provided via email within 3 business days along with trip planning information and an invoice for the remainder of the charter cost.
